But many of the open positions match those held by members of United Auto Workers Local 364, who made brass musical instruments in the plant at 500 S. Industrial Parkway in Elkhart before rejecting a contract offer last month.
The union plans on holding an “informational picket” for the entirety of the job fairs on both days and at both locations, said Jerry Stayton, president of Local 364.
Other UAW locals are expected to help out with the picket, Stayton said, but none could be reached to confirm whether members would get involved.
When striking plant workers had to attend a meeting to learn about strike assistance and insurance benefits, members of UAW Local 941, which represents workers at nearby CTS Corp., maintained the picket line in their place.
Today and Saturday, picketers are expected to hand out fliers and hold signs, but won't block entrance to the job fairs or cause trouble, Stayton said.
The company, which has not been commenting on the strike, said the concessions were necessary to keep the plant competitive with instrument factories overseas.
