Members of the Navajo Veterans Organization from Chinle, Ariz., including a U.S. Marine Corps veteran whose father was a Navajo Code Talker during World War II, will be given a tour of the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo at 10 a.m. today.
Greg Raffa, chairman of the local chapter of Victory Ensured Through Service, said his organization will pay tribute to the group, as well as honor the Navajo Code Talkers, who transmitted valuable radio and telephone messages in their native language.
The cost is $10. Participants will receive a Department of Motor Vehicles certificate that will entitle drivers to a three-year discount on auto insurance premiums.
Classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in Redding; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 and 16 in Redding; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22 and 23 in Anderson; and from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. May 27 (one-day class) in Anderson.
