But on Friday before dawn, thieves smashed out the driver's side window of Klimmer's Jeep Cherokee parked in the driveway of her Bayshore Gardens' home and stole a small black case filled with 20 of her favorite country music CDs.

"I felt I was violated," said Klimmer, a 72-year-old widow who is raising her three grandchildren. "I mind my own business. Why would someone take my CDs? When I was growing up in Lake Placid, N.Y., there were eight of us and we were raised not to touch what wasn't ours. Times have changed. "

"Deputy Schorne gave my dog a doggie treat, " Klimmer said, rather surprised. "Brian, from Gulf Coast Auto Glass, came right to my driveway to fix the window and even gave me a can of window polish. It cost me $242. I didn't put a claim into my insurance. I don't want my rates to rise."

Klimmer was so shaken by the crime that she called her employer, OB/GYN Women's Center in Lakewood Ranch, and said her nerves wouldn't allow her to come to work Friday.

"They were great," Klimmer said of her boss, Dr. Jorge Alvarez, and her fellow workers, who called her all day to make sure she was OK. "I have a great support team. I just wonder what will happen next?"
