“The catastrophe vans are custom made vehicles that give us a place to meet people, we can check policies, issue checks, and file claims,” Crowder said.
Customers don't have to go to the MRS for assistance they can call a hotline that Allstate has set up specifically for storms and catastrophes 1-800-54STORM. They can also call their agent or to allstate.com.
Shawn Johnson media spokesman with State Farm said since the storms hit from April 6-8, they have had more than 4,700 homeowner's claims and more than 7,500 auto claims for the state of Tennessee.
“In my office alone I have had 70 homeowners claims, 14 which are total and 85 automobile claims,” said local Gallatin State Farm agent Craig Hayes.
“In addition we've had two call centers set up in Murfreesboro and Ohio and they have been calling policy holders who have filed claims and helped them with what to expect in the claims process,” he said.
Johnson said State Farm has already done on-site inspections of the hardest hit homes including houses that are a total loss and houses that are uninhabitable.
On Friday evening before dark Kathy Freeman said Hayes drove through the neighborhoods where he knew his clients lived and took a look at their damage and started preparing their claims.
