What's coming up: Today, the $500,000 Ashland Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, 11/16 miles. Sunday, the $100,000-added Lafayette Stakes for 3-year-olds at 6 furlongs.

Final furlong: Fortunately, jockey Javier Castellano won two races on the opening program yesterday, for he's had to pay a few deductibles lately on his auto insurance. Both times, his Lexus SUV wasn't even moving. One incident occurred outside Gulfstream Park and the other at Keeneland on Wednesday. Castellano's father-in-law, Terry Meyocks of Lexington, said the first accident occurred six days before the birth Feb. 19 of Kayla Marie Castellano, daughter of Javier and his wife, Abby Castellano. Abby was a passenger in the vehicle when the rear bumper was ripped off in a hit-and-run at a stoplight.

The vehicle was five weeks in the repair shop, according to Meyocks. Castellano had just retrieved the vehicle last week, sent it north on a trailer-truck load of jockeys' and trainers' cars to Keeneland, and it got hit again. This time, the hit-and-run occurred in a Keeneland parking lot Wednesday, after the vehicles were unloaded. Castellano's winners were Fiery Dancer in the fifth and Wanderin Boy in the seventh.

Besides Chin High, the $139 winner of the Central Bank Transylvania Stakes yesterday, other long shots checked in throughout the day: Smokeyjonessutton (Mark Guidry riding) paid $43.80 in the sixth and Fiery Dancer (Castellano) paid $30.60 in the fifth.

Among hopefuls for next Saturday's $750,000, Grade I Toyota Blue Grass Stakes is Court Folly, trained by Ian Wilkes, stabled at Churchill Downs.
